A 2002 study conducted by I Janssen, A Fortier, R Hudson, and R Ross looked at dietary strategies for reducing belly fat. They found that dietary interventions, such as reducing caloric intake and increasing physical activity, are effective for reducing abdominal fat in individuals with type 2 diabetes. Specifically, they found that reducing the total calorie intake by 500 kcal/day was associated with a decrease in abdominal fat of 2.5%. Additionally, they found that increasing physical activity was linked with a further decrease in abdominal fat by 1.5%. These findings suggest that dietary interventions, such as reducing caloric intake and increasing physical activity, can be effective strategies for reducing belly fat. Furthermore, these strategies may be particularly beneficial for individuals with type 2 diabetes, who are at an increased risk for abdominal fat accumulation. Therefore, reducing caloric intake and increasing physical activity may be a useful strategy for reducing belly fat in individuals
